Education for the Community
Educational Forums for Service Providers: We build bridges between immigrants, community service providers, and policy makers by training and educating community groups, social service agencies, and government agencies on topics that are key to helping the immigrant community.
Parenting Workshop for Immigrants: The Justice Center is implementing a pilot Parenting Workshop project for parents of elementary school children. This Workshop will address various parenting skills, but place a special emphasis on helping parents raise children in a different culture, and teaching parents how to help their children adapt to their bi-cultural identity.
Youth Initiative: HIJC will work with youth to raise awareness about domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking through activities developed by them. Public Policy/Advocacy
State Office of Language Access: The Justice Center played a critical role in the development of the State Office of Language Access. For more information click here.
Insurance for Immigrant Children: The Justice Center advocated for health insurance for immigrant children and are pleased the state of Hawaii has been offering insurance for qualified alien children. For more information click here.
Hawaii Civil Rights Commission: - The Justice Center was instrumental in the development of the Hawaii Civil Rights Commission, protecting the Hawaii's residents from discrimination and preserving the civil rights of all individuals. For more information click here.
